PTO DICTIONARY
Prodrive PTO & Hydraulics is the exclusive authorized distributer/service center of Kozmaksan PTO and ABER Hydraulics in Canada. We provide a wide range of power take off systems and accessories for your hydraulic wetline kits and work truck applications.
What is Cooling System?
Cooling system, apparatus employed to keep the temperature of a structure or device from exceeding limits imposed by needs of safety and efficiency. If overheated, the oil in a gearbox loses its lubricating capacity. Cooling systems are employed on Power Take Off Unit with Lubrication Pump. In otherwise, If lubrication pump does not enough for cooling the system, we need to use Fan, Heat Exchanger to cool the system. Depending on conditions (Pump rpm value, power, climate condition, type of truck, working hours etc.) PRODRIVE PTO can suggest the best option for cooling system.
Lubrication Pump?
Lubricating oil pumps are used to supply oil to lubricate parts inside of gearbox. Lubricating oil is the lifeblood of a gearbox. When oil levels fall, the gearbox fails. Oil using for film thickness to reduce friction and friction losses.
In the case of circulation lubrication, the lubricating oil pump takes in an amount of oil from the gearbox, forces it through the lubrication points and then feeds it back to the gearbox. Gear pumps, which are able to generate high static pressure in the lubricating oil system, are preferably used for this purpose.
For these purposes, we use lubrication pump on different products to cool the system and reduce the friction losses to take better performance results about specifications. With using the right oil, our units will have better performance results and lifetime in running.
What did you mean by Sense of Rotation?
Sense of Rotation of gearbox’s output describes what direction will shaft rotate. It can change with which side we are looking. In according to front or rear looking it could seem different ways. So, the most important part about Sense of Rotation of shaft, we have to indicate where we are looking at. There two different rotation types;
- CW: Clockwise
- CCW: Counter-Clockwise
PRODRIVE PTO also uses two different types of looking to represent the sense of rotation of gearbox unit;
- Front of Truck
- Rear of Truck
What Are Those Plugs And Sensors For?
Oil Filling Plug
A plug on the product which is using to fill the oil inside of gearbox. A plug we need to dismantle it to fill the oil.
Air Vent Plug
A plug on the product which is located upper side helps keep safe pressure in gearbox. Our products have oil inside and because of working, pressure happens inside it. If pressure exceeds the limit, malfunction appears. To avoid this, we are using air vent plug on our products.
Oil Indicator
Gearboxes are closed and complicated mechanical systems. So, it is not easy to see how much oil inside of it. Therefore, we mount Oil Indicator Plug on our products so users can see the oil level inside the gearbox. Oil Indicator Plug is a small, transparent window which allows seeing oil level. Oil is the most important thing about gearbox. Because mechanical parts occur heat and friction while working and these conditions are not desirable. For mechanical reasons, oil should be used in our products and if it falls below lower limit, there will be warming, noise, malfunction, even tooth breakage.
Oil Draining Plug
When oil change time comes, you can drain old oil with this plug. Generally, it is under the product so you can drain old, dirty oil from gearbox. This plug is not optional for gearboxes. So the plug is at the bottom of our body in all our products.
RPM Counter
A sensor that allows you to know rotation speed of input or output shaft. So, you can see speed of shaft for superstructure’s ideal values. Usually, it gives you RPM (Revolution per minute) in unit. With the help of this sensor, you can check shaft rotation value for your system. How fast is rotating PTO to pump? Does it exceed pump limits? How much power I will get from PTO? And answer to many other questions is using RPM Counter Sensor.
Engage/Disengage Sensor
A sensor that allows you to know if output is engaged or disengaged. So, in this way sensor lets you know if shaft is rotating or not. This sensor allows yo to check gearbox working mode. Is PTO output is engaged? Is gearbox on Main Drive Mode? With this sensor, you can find answers to all your questions.
Oil Level Sensor
Oil level sensor can give information about if oil level falls below lower limit or not to you. Sensor works how much oil touches tube of sensor. So with this way, oil level can be checked with not necessary to seeing gearbox.
